For the past decade or so, Polish musician Michal Jacaszek has been exploring a new, resolutely modern chapter in Eastern Europe’s long, storied love affair with classical music. His creations are painstakingly crafted collages of electronic textures and baroque instrumentation, harpsichords being swarmed by woolly static one minute and pulled apart by billowing wind the next. Ambient music—if we can generalize unnecessarily for a second—is rarely so sonically challenging.
Jacaszek’s latest album, Glimmer, is marked by a noticeable tug between melancholy and beauty, like it’s hovering in some gaseous grey area between both, at once both insular and extroverted. “I tried again to create some fragile beauty glimmering behind the veil of reality,” he says. “I built a kind of curtain out of dirts and fuzzes, and used pure sound of clarinet and harpsichord playing beautiful melodies as a contrast to its harshness.” This winking, push-and-pull tension runs deep and constant throughout the 40-odd-minute journey to the end.

Wess Meets West is an instrumental electronic infused rock band from The East. Initially, Wess Meets West was intended to be solely an electronic music project by Sam Stauff (My Holy Ghost, A Paper Tugboat). The project stayed this way until 2008 when bassist Bryan Gottshall and drummer Jesse Vengrove were recruited enabling the project to become a live band. In early 2010, bassist Erick Alfisi (ex-Forget Paris, A Paper Tugboat) and drummer Brian DiCrescenzo (ex-The Ghost Sonata, The Attending) joined to keep the project going in a live setting. With new members came a new sound and a new direction for the band. The culmination of these factors is the band's newest endeavor, "Chevaliers". "Chevaliers" is the band's most expansive effort, combining the creative influence of all the members, past and present, while pushing the sound to its furthest limitations. The ever-expanding lineup has recently grown to include Mike Howard and Ian Tait to help accurately present the new sound in a live setting. Wess Meets West will continue to explore new musical territories and tour the northeast in 2012.

The music is distinguished by Hoyda's use of techniques like polyrhythms and odd time signatures to explore musical ambiguity, resulting in music that is actively shaped by the perception of the listener. The self-titled debut was released on September 5th and is available for free download at apperceptionmusic.com

Tracklist 01. Coming Home 02. Agnostic 03. Where You Stand is Not Solid 04. You'll Never Change

Pushing in a new direction, the band’s newest songs contain more of an atmospheric background, and a heavier presence, obtained by using various delays and loop pedals. Over 8 months later from their release of handout, they released three new songs: Agnostic, Coming Home and You’ll Never Change, which all share an ocean-like atmosphere.

Jon Attwood grew up with the tail end of punk and post-punk of the early 80s, playing in a few London punk bands around 81-84 before moving to the suburbs. Following flirtations with goth, folk and Stax/Motown soul during the 90s, Jon Attwood started Yellow6 as a solo guitar project, initially inspired by space/post-rock, electronica and reverb soundscapes. A debut single in 1998 on Enraptured started a flood of releases over the following decade, and in 2010 is approaching 80 releases on almost as many labels.

The Sound of Rescue is a post-rock project from Baltimore, Maryland, USA. We are 3 brothers intent on making inspiring and engaging music. We try our best to write music that reflects both the joy of today and the hope of tomorrow.
Behind Wolfredt hides himself Margus Voolpriit, who has been known as the drummer in some eminent Estonian indie combos (Dreamphish; Pia Fraus) throughout 90`s and 00`s. Regarding Wolfredt he has traded drums and kits to guitars and electronic devices. He makes his vista up with the help of rising, atmospherical guitars, pulsating electronics, a few sonic effects, which ultimately provides enough aesthetical joy and relaxing ambience. Stylistically it mostly veers away indietronica, post-rock, and electronic shoegaze.
Katerwaul began in early January 2007, and comprise Tim Courtney, Graham Chamers, and Nick J. Morrice. Our music comes from different places individually but we all share a great love and passion for the atmosphere and mood of various bands loosely described as 'post-rock' - from, Godspeed you! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Oceansize, Cave-In, Sigur Ros and A Silver Mt Zion to name but 6. Outside of music as a source for our inspiration, cinema and literature all filter though as themes and starting points for discussion and songwriting. Lyrical themes can range from intense personal moments to the World at large as portrayed in some of the film work and books we love. The album for this song will be released about February-March 2012.

Across waters is history in the making. When four not-so-average guys from a small town known as Denton, TX band together to create an amalgamation of progressively styled music, nothing magical or profound happens instantaneously; this takes practice and the work of a Greater Power, if you know what I mean. Indeed it takes four insane, Jesus-loving men: Sterling Archer (guitar), Tyler Burditt (guitar), Leighton Pustejovsky (drums), and Levi Shultz (bass).
It all started with two guys and a dorm room during the fall of 2008. Leighton Pustejovsky and Tyler Burditt began a rampage of jam sessions only to find that their love for music would not cease. A year later after being approached by the rambunctious duo, Sterling Archer made his way into the ongoing embryonic stages of Across Waters. Finally, Levi Shultz, once a fill-in for shows, became the last addition, thereby completing the awkward quartet of talented musicians.

‘Take Me With You‘… A record which has taken the longest to complete, partly due to the patter of two DCI babies, but which the band are most proud of. This is a searing effort which really cuts to the heart of all things good in post-rock and shoegaze.
Ironically more ferocious but somehow more melodic, DCI have really stepped up through the gears in the creation of this record, limited availability in all formats too.

Artist: Various Artists Album: Hope for Japan Genre: Post-rock, Instrumental Label: Oxide Tones Year: 2011 From : Earth
9th March 2011 was the start of a bad time for Japan. An earthquake, followed by another 2 days later, set the stone rolling for a series of actions that affected the country in a more intense manner than anything else since World War II. The people behind “Hope for Japan” don’t want to initiate a debate on nuclear power, global warming, or other individual aspects of what caused Japans’ pain, the classic media and news channels have covered that from every possible perspective, we want to help. We are not calling out people to start sending their hard earned money to Japan, although of course you’re more than welcome to do so, we want to make an offer. Across the world, people participate in hobbies and activities because they want to. You’ll often hear people talk about their passion. Everyone behind “Hope for Japan” and the pending “More Hope for Japan” has a passion for music – from musicians, to labels, to artists and even a pressing company. It’s disasters like Japan’s that make us think, that force us in to introspection. As such, a group of people decided to help with what they do best: Music. And that’s what we offer.
6 months later...
Japan has largely disappeared from the media. Coping with their losses and (still) trying to salvage as much as possible from the area surrounding Fukushima, the Japanese folk are coping as best they can. The death toll has reached the 20,000 mark. Considering that multiple earthquakes affected the country, as well as the resulting disaster at the nuclear power plant, that may not seem high, however there is not yet an accurate estimate on long term victims. Think about that for a second: It has not yet been possible to evaluate long term victims. Thus we provide the second album, titled “More Hope for Japan”. The album is available as a digital download as well as a limited edition double CD in a jewel case packaging. Only 100 will be printed, and each will be numbered.

Sense of Akasha was founded in 2002. The sound of the band paints a suitable picture of the landscapes in which their members are living namely, Brunico, a small town located in northern Italy next to the border to Austria, "in the mountains". The music of SOFA comes across well with a rather classical rock-constellation of two guitars, bass, and drums. Additional instruments such as cello, banjo, mandolin or electronic grooves, noisemakers and voice samples are used in a playful mode. Wonderful melodies are created in a playful way, melodies which hide quickly behind walls of guitars only to reappear even more heartrending. After the release of their first official full-length album "People do not know who rules" (on the Italian independent label Riff Records in 2008), which was extremely well received by the Italian and German press, in 2010 the band made a trip into the artistic field as well. In fact, their latest works consisted in creating soundtracks for an artistic installation by the German artist Julia Bornefeld and the interpretation of the Grimm Brother's tale "the bear skinner". The soundtrack for Julia Bornefeld's "asteroid centrifuge" has been released once more by Riff Records in 2009. In Sept. 2011 SOFA released their second full length album "Splendid Isolation"; a powerful, aggressive, emotive and atmospherical album which is concerned with four basic issues: confusion, fear, audacity and freedom.

Tracklist 01. (Hungover in) Siberia 02. ...and in this endless soundscape, I gave you life 03. Seven Layers of Discombobulation 04. I'll See You When I See You, and I Hope This Will Be, Won't Be Soon... 05. Blueneck'd (Featuring Amr Ashraf) - (BONUS TRACK)
(Hungover in) Siberia is Pie Are Squared's third release and the first part of an ongoing trilogy; a venturesomely bold series of interrelated recordings. (Hungover in) Siberia plays as one long-form composition that is constructed with deliberate melodrama to pay homage to a plethora of human emotions, partly inspired by the seemingly infinite Siberian landscapes. Autobiographical in nature, the music expresses the protagonist’s loneliness and longing to rejuvenate his soul and assuage his mind, and his journey through his own personal looking-glass into a hallucinatory world.
