Apperception is an instrumental solo project by Toronto composer/guitarist Joey Hoyda that fuses the experimental structures of minimalism with the dreamy soundscapes of post-rock and ambient. The music is distinguished by Hoyda's use of techniques like polyrhythms and odd time signatures to explore musical ambiguity, resulting in music that is actively shaped by the perception of the listener.
