Versa formed in January of 2006, in a bid to lose a Battle of the bands at a campus pub. Encouraged by an unprecedented success in this endeavour, the band continued to work on original material. Traversing the expanses between soft, ambient noise and driving, cataclysmic guitars, drums and keys, the songs range from simple affairs of three or four minutes to quarter-of-an-hour epics.

Recognized for their emotionally-charged recordings and live appearances, Versa performs and records mostly-instrumental post rock that incorporates elements of progressive, indie pop, folk, and ambient music. Versa released their second album, The Decline & Fall of... in July, 2010 (following their eponymous debut in October, 2007). The album has received positive reviews, with critics calling it “an album of hope and nostalgia”, “a hell of an album,” and “intelligent, emotional... deserv[ing] some love”. Versa was recently short-listed for Monday Magazine's 2010 M Award for Victoria's Favourite Band. After a brief hiatus following the release of The Decline & Fall of..., Versa has re-emerged in the new year, writing new material, performing shows, and recording a new EP released at the end of 2011.
