Bitcrush has always had a knack of making something as intangible as emotion seem somehow within reach, and on Collapse Mike Cadoo has taken this project to a new level and managed to create the most human and powerful record of his career to date. While this is beyond doubt a Bitcrush record and still invokes a feeling of a desperate nostalgic hope like a crack of sunlight through parting clouds, this time the clouds are much blacker and tempestuous, the viewing platform less stable. Bitcrush has changed, adding almost JK Broaderick-esque detuned guitars and fragile yet distressed guitar parts, he weaves these new elements into his work effortlessly and somehow manages to make Collapse feel like a living breathing entity.

As Bitcrush has always been the sleeve on which Cadoo wears his heart, the fact that he puts this stylistic shift down to, as he puts it, "emotionally exhausting events in my life", is hardly a surprise and can be felt in every note. More expressive and emotional than ever - pain, hope, slivers of broken joy - Collapse is not a safe record, but somehow manages to take the emotions that created it and make them yours in a journey you're unlikely to forget.

Nadja is a duo of Aidan Baker & Leah Buckareff currently based in Toronto, Canada. Nadja originally began in 2003 as a solo project for Baker to explore the heavier/noisier side of his experimental/ambient guitar-based music. In 2005 Buckareff joined in order to make the project more than just a studio endeavour & allow Nadja to perform live.

Nadja creates music that has been variously described as drone metal, ambient doom, and shoegazer, combining soundscapes, electronics, & atmospheric vocals with snail-crawl, epic riffs & dirge-like percussion, tempering the cacophany with a certain ethereal melodicism such that the listener is enveloped in a sublimating wall of amorphous sound.

Joshua Varnedore has epic dreams. Dreams where massive, brilliant things happen. Grand vibrant landscapes and impossibilities and long lost people. And in his waking life, serendipity follows him around- chance meetings, repeating numbers. But instead of being investigated by Scully and Muller, he records an ongoing soundtrack to all of these events almost effortlessly. Utilizing whatever he can get his hands on- from VSS-30 to guitar, glock to voice – he manages to paint such rich soundscapes, its nearly impossible to not feel transformed after hearing them. We are all filters to what we experience, and Josh is no exception: his inspiration is evident coming from his friends, Hammock and Jonsi and Alex, nodding to the organic, expansive and otherworldly nature of their music. Ultimately, his music is, without a doubt, moving yet strangely familiar.

Year Of No Light formed in 2001 in Bordeaux (Fr). With their first album, Nord, YONL have proven adept a shifting seamlessly between genres, balancing post-rock, sludge, somber psychedelics and crushing dark shoegaze. In 2010, now backed by two drums, 3 guitars, the band released its second album, Ausserwelt, oscillating between drone, doom, post-rock, black metal and progressive music.

To celebrate our tenth birthday, here's the reissue of our first album "Nord", initially released in 2006 on Radar Swarm/Crucial Blast with a bonus CD compiling rare tracks from split records (with ROSETTA and KARYSUN among others), some covers (JOY DIVISION and THE CURE) and old remastered songs from our demo. This reissue really worths to collect all tracks from our first line-up (before our instrumental era begun with "Ausserwelt") with agressive songs and screaming vocals. Six years after its first release, this record is still actual with its post-metal style mixed with a lot of other tunes (sludge, drone, black-metal, etc).

Since 2005 Evan Caminiti has explored the potential of psychedelic guitar music informed by American traditions and kosmische inspirations alike. Working in both Barn Owl and Higuma as well as releasing three full length LPs under his birth name, he has released records on Thrill Jockey, Three Lobed, Important, Root Strata, Digitalis, Not Not Fun, and Handmade Birds.
With Night Dust, his debut for Immune, Caminiti shifted the focus away from amplifier worship and the desert themes his work is often associated with to focus on texture, fractured dub techniques, and spacious electric guitar compositions. Recorded entirely to 4 track cassette, Caminiti embraced the limitations of the medium and warped the original sound sources with analog electronics, searching for beauty in the hazy and degraded sounds. Inspiration came from smokey blue hues and washed out lights of some of the 80’s best vampire movies which contributes to the visually evocative narrative flow the album possesses.

Northern Valentine is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based ambient/drone-rock collective consisting of husband and wife, Robert and Amy Brown, along with Matthew Primak and Jeffrey Bumiller. Their music is largely improvisational and is typically set to original films that the collective has created. Coaxing sounds from electric and acoustic sources, they weave meditative drones and soundscapes with "barely there" post-rock instrumentation to create a tapestry that Phil McMullen (Terrascope Online) refers to as "minimalist ambiance at its best. Heartfelt, soulful and affecting, like gazing into a scrapbook of memories".

London-based experimental guitarist Ben Chatwin first appeared two years ago when his debut album as Talvihorros, Some Ambulance, was one of the very last releases from Scottish imprint Benbecula. But, as the label folded, Chatwin soon found a new home with Hibernate Recordings, who published the excellent Music In Four Movements last year. Just over a year on, Chatwin is back with his latest offering, Descent Into Delta. Unlike previous records, which were essentially the fruit of studio-based experimentations, the five tracks from this new record began life as live improvisations. The original recordings have since been submitted to intense editing, processing and recomposing to eventually form the core of this opus. During this process, Chatwin became interested in how the mind fluctuates between various states of consciousness. Descent Into Delta is a representation of the move from a fully alert state to one of sleep and rest.

Jon Attwood grew up with the tail end of punk and post-punk of the early 80s, playing in a few London punk bands around 81-84 before moving to the suburbs. Following flirtations with goth, folk and Stax/Motown soul during the 90s, Jon Attwood started Yellow6 as a solo guitar project, initially inspired by space/post-rock, electronica and reverb soundscapes.
A debut single in 1998 on Enraptured started a flood of releases over the following decade, and in 2010 is approaching 80 releases on almost as many labels.
